World's First 1-Terabyte 3.5 inch Hard Disk Drive Posted on: May 17, 2007
LEGEND unveils worlds first 1 Terrabyte 3.5" Hard Drive for the digital lifestyle at Cbit

Consumers’ ability to store video, photos, music and other valued data will reach new heights as Legend Performance Technology unveils the industry’s first 1 Terabyte (TB), single 3.5-inch hard disk drive at CeBIT. Legend has been the authorized distributor of Hitachi hard disk drives in Australia since 2003.

Delivering superior performance, reliability and capacity, the 1TB hard drive meets the needs of demanding consumers who want to create, share and store their digital information as economically as possible.

“This is an exciting day for Legend and our partners, and we are very pleased to help deliver this ground breaking technology to consumers, said Adam Waye, Hitachi Product Manager, Legend Performance Technology. The industry’s first 1 Terabyte hard drive represents a milestone that is 50 years in the making, and it reasserts Hitachi’s leadership as the highest-capacity, lowestcost storage technology.”

Legend has partnered with ASI, a leading Australian system integration partner to present the first physical 1-Terabyte hard drive available in the country integrated into a PC, which will be on display at the CEBIT show.

Legend will begin shipment of the Hitachi Deskstar® 7K1000 to customers in the latter part of this quarter at a suggested retail price of AUD$599, or 59 cents per gigabyte (GB). This new consumer-friendly price makes ultra-high storage capacity more affordable and accessible than ever before. Along with the Deskstar 7K1000 for the retail market, Hitachi has launched the CinemaStar version of 1TB hard drive, which provides optimised capabilities specifically designed for digital video recording (DVR) applications which will also be distributed by Legend.
